Tour of Utah: Team NetApp in the top ten in the team time trial

Team News | 09.08.2012

The second stage of the Tour of Utah was held as a team time trial along a 7-km route, which the teams had to complete three times in the Miller Motorsports Park. With a time of 22:35 minutes, Garmin-Sharp relegated the Rabobank and Radioshack-Nissan-Trek teams to second and third places, respectively. Team NetApp ended the stage in 10th place with a deficit of 1:10 minutes.

"Today wasn't an ideal day for us. Several riders clearly had trouble with the heat. We had certainly counted on a bit more to keep Leo within reach of a podium position in the general classification. Now he has fallen behind from the favorites by nearly a minute and is thus no longer quite on target," Ralph Denk, Team Manager of Team NetApp, said in summation.

The third stage will take the riders back to the mountains. The 138-km route from Ogden to Salt Lake City has three mountain classifications. The final climb has an incline of 7% before descending to the finish.
