Team NetApp rides SIMPLON’s new NEXIO aero-roadbike at the Giro d’Italia 2012

Team News | 10.05.2012

The best german professional road race team Team NetApp rides race-ready prototypes of SIMPLON’s new aero-roadbike NEXIO during the Giro d’Italia. Conceptually the NEXIO combines the best of both worlds in the present professional bike yard of the team. It shares top class aerodynamics of SIMPLON’s MR.T time trail machine as welll as exceptional lightness and stiffness of the more traditionally shaped PAVO roadbike.

The core idea of NEXIO’s development and engineering is the KTD Kamm Tail Design. The shapes of the frame’s tubes compare to a teardrop cut in its tail. The principle of the KTD Kamm Tail Design enables SIMPLON-engineers to solve a general contradiction in frame development: The new NEXIO is extraordinary aerodynamic, light and stiff at the same time.

Official presentation of the NEXIO is scheduled for this year’s EUROBIKE show. Ready for distribution: appr. octobre 2012.

Jan Biedermann, Head of Marketing, SIMPLON:
„We want every SIMPLON to be of top class technology and quality. This is why we build the NEXIO, which incorporates our mission. It is exactly what a pro-rider’s hard working legs dream of:  stiff, light and aerodynamic in one. With every Watt the rider shall achieve best results. Also, we wanted to give the Team something in return for their outstanding results this season so far as wins at Coppi e Bartali and Rund um Köln. With the NEXIO we would like to honor their enormous performance. In bocca al lupo at your first grand tour!”
