Team NetApp prepares for the Münsterland Giro

Traditionally, the Münsterland Giro starts on October 3 in Münster. For the third time in a row, Team NetApp will be competing in the German autumn classic. With its sprint specialists in the race, the team would like to end the season with a good result.

Just like in previous years, the Münsterland Giro's course has been altered a bit this year as well. The route covers 196 kilometers from Stadtlohn to Münster. First there's a 60-km loop before the next section (100 km) takes the peloton across the eventual finish line for the first time. The race is decided in two more final laps of 4.8 kilometers each.

"The course is flat and doesn't pose any great technical difficulties for the riders. Nevertheless, caution is advised because a big breakaway group, or even the wind, could quickly upset a tactical plan. But we expect that a mass sprint will be the most likely outcome. That's why we're competing with our sprinter squad. We'd definitely like to have a say in terms of the final results," says Sport Director Jens Heppner.
