Team NetApp motivated for the Vattenfall Cyclassics

This coming Sunday the Team will be participating in the 17th edition of the Hamburg Cyclassics, the only remaining WorldTour race in Germany. Until now, the 216-kilometer length race has been mostly determined by a mass sprint. But the stretch has been extended by 30 kilometers this year, bringing new opportunities for Team NetApp.

“The extended distance and the additional mountain to be climbed makes the course much harder this year. There is a good chance that the race won’t come down to a mass sprint but rather, that a small group will be able to breakaway on the last climb. That would suit us well,” comments Enrico Poitschke about the new route.

After crossing through the finish line, the peloton is then taken over Ballindamm, Jungfernstieg and Glacischaussee and onto the traditional Wasebergrunde (four laps), whereby the traditional route will be increased to a distance of 246.5 kilometers.

“As the highest ranking Team in Germany, we will start our home race with the best team. We were already able to prove that the race suits us last year, with four riders in the breakaway group. The fact that it’s more difficult this year increases our chances”, Poitschke continues.
