Team NetApp kicks off with a Belgian race series

Following the World Tour race Cyclassics comes a whole race series in Belgium. It kicks off with the GP Stad Zottegem next Tuesday, August 21 and the Druivenkoers-Overijse race the day after.
The 77th GP Stad Zottegem will take place over 182 km through Flanders. The first thing to be tackled is a 63-km circuit around Zottegem, followed by four local laps, each measuring 29.7 km. Both the big circuit and the final laps in Zottegem have an undulating profile.
“With this route profile quite a large group has usually arrived. Consequently it’s important to ride carefully and try to keep up with the decisive group,” according to the Sport Director Jens Heppner.
On the next day, Team NetApp will be at the starting line of the race for the second time following its debut last year at the 52nd Druivenkoers-Overijse in the Flemish Brabant area. Following a loop of just under 128 km around Overijse, where the race starts and finishes, the riders will have to complete eight local laps, each measuring 10.3 km.
“This course is much tougher than the one at Zottegem. The whole day will be spent on the hellingen. This is just the thing for real classics' riders! It’s hard to say just how both courses will suit our riders this soon after the Cyclassics and Tour of Utah. But I’m optimistic, because recently they’ve all put in good performances", Jens Heppner explained.
