Team NetApp finishes the Tour of Turkey in the Top 20

The 121-km final stage of the Tour of Turkey came down to a mass sprint, as expected. In Istanbul, Theo Bos (Rabobank) managed to win out just barely ahead of Andrew Fenn (OmegaPharma – Quick Step) and Stefan Van Dijk (Accent.jobs - Willems Verandas). Team NetApp’s Jerome Baugnies finished the tour in 16th place overall.

The race was determined by a breakaway group that managed to build up a lead of as much as three minutes before being caught up with just five kilometers to go. During the race there were many crashes, including ones involving Jerome Baugnies and Timon Seubert. Neither one of them was injured, however.

“We were here with our classics specialists, and they were all feeling the strain of the spring races. So we weren’t competing at our full team strengths and we weren't always able to ride aggressively. On the whole, I’m pleased with how our boys handled themselves. Jerome’s 16th-place finish overall is very noteworthy. Some of the guys will be taking a break now in order to recuperate,” said Jens Heppner, Team NetApp's Sport Director, summing up the tour.
