Steenbergen - a race with many defects and an eight rank for Andre Schulze

Team News | 05.09.2012

Dutch rider Theo Bos (Rabobank) managed to beat out his fellow countryman and the defending champion Kenny van Hummel (Vacansoleil) today during the sprint at the end of the 200-kilometre course from Antwerp to Westerlo. Mark Renshaw, who also rides for Team Rabobank, placed third. Best Team NetApp rider was Andre Schulze on rank eight.

A small, four-man group set the tone for the race until the sprinter teams caught up with them on the final laps.

For Team NetApp it wasn’t a very happy day. In addition to several equipment failures experienced by the riders, the Sport Director’s car also had a problem. “We had to move up to one of our riders and we drove over a stone. After that, we had a flat tire of our own. We changed the tire as quickly as possible and rejoined the race in no time,” explains Jens Heppner.

“Considering the circumstances, the boys gave it their best shot,” Jens Heppner adds.
