Leo König second in the Queen Stage of the Tour of Utah

Today's queen stage of the Tour of Utah, extending over 165 kilometers from Newpark to the Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, played out exactly as Team NetApp hoped. At the end of the final climb, NetApp' s Leo König trailed only Johann Tschopp (BMC), who takes the lead in the overall standings as a result. Joseph Dombrowski (Bontrager Livestrong) followed them in third place. With his outstanding performance on this penultimate stage Leo König is now in fourth place in the overall standings, only 53 seconds behind the leader.
The queen stage challenged riders with a total of 3,000 meters of climbing, spread over on three mountains with the finish line on a climb. The race began as expected, very hectically and with a number of attacks. The field finally gave way to a group of five leaders, who were joined on the second-to-last mountain climb by a chase group of five riders. The ten leaders in the breakaway group maintained their lead until the final, deciding climb, before the climbers closed out the thrilling finale.
"Today we did everything right. Our goal was to head into the last mountain less than two minutes back and to put Leo in a top spot for the final climb. The team executed exactly as planned. That was a very strong team effort. The climb itself was simply great riding by Leo. I am more than happy with this result,“ said Ralph Denk, NetApp Team Manager, after the race.
The final stage of the Tour of Utah on Sunday starts and a finishes in Park City, leading the riders over 124 kilometers. The final climb, a mountain in the HC category, rises over 1,000 meters.
