Bartosz Huzarski secures NetApp’s third stage victory in Poland

Team News | 07.07.2012

Bartosz Huzarski dominated the 183 km long phase of the „Course Cycliste de Solidarnosc et des Champions Olympiques“ from Nowy Sącz to Krosno. He triumphed in this hilly stage ahead of his countrymen Mariusz Witecki (Bank BGZ) and Adam Pierzga (National Team Poland).

Bartosz Huzarski rises in the general classification to second place. André Schulze remains the leader of the points classification. After André Schulze’s two sprinting victories, this is Team NetApp’s third stage victory in the tour.

Early on in the race a nine-person group had already broken away. The leading teams took on the work to bring them back, but at first they were not united, since they had riders who were placed in the leading group. 30 kilometers before the finish the group collapsed and the last rider was brought back.

“We knew this would be a stage for Bartosz. We wanted to hold off for as long as possible and let Bartosz attack shortly before the finish. He pushed forward on the penultimate mountain and only two riders were able to follow. Then he triumphed in the sprint. Massive congratulations are in order – he did a super job,“ comments Enrico Poitschke, Sport Direktor of Team NetApp.

The final stage tomorrow covers a distance of 165 kilometers from Jaslo to Jaroslaw. It provides a hilly profile, before it leads into the finish with a completely flat final stretch of 15 kilometers.
